Summary

The Evolution server is built on the power and stability of open source Linux. It provides an “out of the box”, secure and intuitive IT infrastructure that manages your network resources. Users can access shared directories remotely or remote control computers with a fully featured and customizable VPN that is protected protected by the security of Evolution Server's router and firewall. The server also delivers e-mail and web page hosting, with a choice of web clients and collabration applications. To ensure that your data is safe, the server also has continuous, automated, unattended backup and mirrored RAID support. Users can be set up and the system administered by any trusted user without the expense of an IT consultant. The server comes pre-loaded with a number of on-demand business applications The Evolution Server has a managed services system with automatic drive scanning to warn you of impending drive failure by sending e-mail notifcation to a specified user or group . Server status can also be viewed and monitored through charts and graphs accessible via the web. With the built-in transparent web proxy, you can monitor the visited web sites of all the computers within your network. Using the same system you can also place a limit on web page access disallowing the content of your choice.

Software

Server comes installed with a copy of the 64-bit version of the Gentoo GNU/Linux operating system including all of the software necessary to get your network, e-mail, and backup up and running. The software is designed to work with all versions of Linux, Mac, and Windows systems and comes from secure foundations.

  • webmin - Web software that provides ease of user adding/managing and server administration.
  • usermin - Web software allowing users to modify their own accounts, set up out of office messages, and manage server files.
  • qmail - Secure e-mail delivery server.
  • spamassassin - E-mail spam filter featuring an array of plugins for sorting through and classifying spam.
  • open-xchange * - Web access for e-mail that looks and feels like Microsoft Outlook that syncs Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks seamlessly with the local Microsoft Outlook clients on office workstations.
