FAQ What is groupware?
From Computer Evolution Knowledgebase
The American Heritage Dictionary explains it as Software that integrates work on a single project by several concurrent users at separated workstations, and it is just that. Groupware allows the sharing of contacts, calendars, files, tasks, folders, and other key items between a group. Let's say in your company you are the project manager overseeing a group. It is your responsibility to then delegate important tasks to the other group members. Through groupware you will be able to assign the tasks and then even track the task's progress. Perhaps you are working on an image file with a group of people. It would be a bit of a pain to have to carry around a flash drive with the information on it to the next group member who is to work on it. Instead, you would be able to use your groupware application and upload the file so that the other team members can access it at any time and keep track of the changes.
