Screen Sharing for Non-Mac Computers

By default, Apple Screen Sharing will only allow remote access from other Mac based computers. To allow other computers to access your desktop, you can enable VNC screen sharing. To do so, click Computer Settings and check off both boxes and enter a VNC access password in the box. Click OK to save your settings.

Access your Mac remotely

Accessing your Mac can be done through any VNC client by entering your local IP address and VNC access password. To find your local IP, simply look at the sentence just below the Screen Sharing status light in the Screen Sharing menu.
