HOWTO Run Macintosh Software Update

Overview

Software Update keeps your Macintosh operating system and Apple software up to date with the latest patches and security fixes as well as new features and utilities.

Directions

  1. Begin by accessing the System Preferences application. This can be reached through a dock icon or by searching your system with Spotlight at the top right corner of your screen.

  2. Click on the Software Update icon in the System category.

  3. Click the Check Now button to check for any available updates

Automatic Updates

You may want to enable automatic update checks and installs. If so, use the drop-down menu at the bottom of the Software Updates window to configure your preferences
