HOWTO Run windows updates

Microsoft Windows Updates keeps your Windows software up to date. This ensures that your system has the best defense against the worst of worms and security holes. Updating your computer or setting up automatic updates to do updates every now and again will keep you more secure.

Setting up automatic updates

Click on Start and then go to the Control Panel.

Click on Security Center.

Click on Automatic Updates.

Select Automatic (recommended) and then set an appropriate time to install the updates. It is better to set them to install when you won't be on the computer because you may experience slow down.

Now click OK.

Doing updates manually

First we have to open up Internet Explorer. To do this we have to move the mouse and click on the Start button. Now look under All Programs for Internet Explorer. Click on that.

Go to the Tools menu up top and then click on Windows Update.

It may ask you in the process to download ActiveX controls or other such "Yes"/"No" questions. You may answer all those questions positively, safely.

Click on Express. This is the easiest and quickest way to get your updates.

It will then proceed to examine the install software on your computer. This process may take some time.
