Macintosh OS X
From Computer Evolution Knowledgebase
Macintosh OS X is a Unix based graphical operating system from Apple, Inc. It is currently available only on Apple desktop and laptop computers as well as Apple Xserve servers.
Features
Apple's newest release, Mac OS X 10.5, features a variety of included software such as Apple Mail email client, Address Book contact manager, Safari web browser, and iChat instant messaging client. It also comes pre-built with a wide range of system features such as Spaces virtual desktops, Time Machine automated system backup, Quicklook file preview feature, and Spotlight system search utility.
Apple computers running Mac OS X 10.5 also have the option of using included Boot Camp utility to partition their primary hard drive to allow the installation of a second operating system such as Microsoft Windows. This allows the computer to easily boot to either the Mac or Windows operating system without needing secondary hard drives or boot discs.
